During homecoming week, students prepared their best outfits for the spirit days. Spirit days are decided on by seniors in student council, and students participate in order to show their school pride.

“I love school school spirit. It makes high school a lot more fun and go by a lot faster,” said Riley Blackwell, a junior and a member of student council.

During homecoming week, the school hosted spirit days for each day of the week. Spirit week is meant to get students excited for homecoming.

Each day had a different theme. Monday was pajama day, Tuesday was meme day,  Wednesday was animal print, Thursday was tourist day, and last but not least was camouflage day.

“I like to look goofy so I knew that tourist day would be my time to shine,” said Paige Russell, a teacher and participant of spirit days.
A lot more goes into planning for the spirit days then many people think. For students, time and money is not easy to get. Many students planned for weeks before to make sure they have a costume that will impress the other students and staff.

“The hardest part is not being able to find pieces for their costumes on time or have it come in time. A lot of people say oh I will get it tomorrow and then they don’t,” said Grace Hunter, a junior and a member of student council.

Many teachers believe dress up days interfere with student’s focus and participation in class. While it may interfere, it may also be worth it. School pride is very important to some while it may not be worth it for others.

“School spirit is important because it brings a community together and allows students to rally together for a common cause,” said Russell.

Overall, homecoming dress up days is something that many students and staff participate in as a way to showcase their school spirit.
