From the Nest: Week 1 Submissions
April 10, 2020
How has it been for our family? I am thankful that I get to see my own kids each day, even if it's only for some meals and maybe a little exercise together. Life as a teacher is not as easy as people think. You end up spending more time with your students each week than your OWN children. So, this COVID-19 THANG has been great for my family life. In addition, I feel zero stress. I am not running to my next real estate appointment or rushing to practice or hopping on a school bus for a game. I am not staying up until midnight grading papers only to wake up at 5am to get ready for zero hour class. I actually wonder how we all got it done each and every day. I realize that life has been an absolute grind and that I appreciate the small stuff: an iced coffee in the morning while I listen to the birds chirp chirp chirping away, a hug from my kids and an actual breakfast TOGETHER, having a routine but not feeling rushed, and taking the time for things we never get to do (dusting the house...yes! Who knew that would bring joy?? Playing the piano again and reading for pleasure, not in preparation for lessons). Yes, it is a pandemic. Yes, it might sound selfish, but we are thriving and it makes my heart sing.

This is Penelope Von Schrute and Lylah Mickelson. Two great danes who give a whole lot of love!
P.S. this is the first time I’ve use gravatar so I’m not 100% sure that it worked
