Upcoming College Visits: The following colleges will be on campus in the

Students, the window for schedule changes is now closed. Please make
sure that you attend the classes listed on your published schedule. Attendance is
one of the most important factors in academic success. Again, the window for
schedule changes has now closed. There will be no more changes to schedules.

CSHS Open House is coming up on Monday evening, August 20th. If your
parents are planning to attend, please remember to give them a copy of your
schedule as they will be following your schedule and visiting each of your classes
for about 10 minutes.

Picture Day is Thursday, August 30th. Orders can be placed online by
visiting Order forms are also available in the front office.

Cactus Shadows is looking for a student to fill the position of our school
mascot, Floyd the Falcon! Anyone interested please see Mrs. Johnson in the
athletics office to pick up a flier and sign up for tryouts. Here’s your chance to
show us your Falcon PRIDE!!

Join the Superintendent’s Student Cadre! Superintendent, Dr. Debbi
Burdick, is inviting students from Cactus Shadows High School to meet with her
once a month to discuss critical issues at the high school, the district and in the
community. The meetings will be in dialogue format for active discussion. Topics
will be brought forward by students or Dr. Burdick. For more information visit

Are you participating in the Superintendent’s Challenge? Earn 50 hours or
more per year in Community Service (200 hours total 4 years) by your senior year
and receive a Superintendent’s Challenge honor cord and certificate. Falcons can
earn a Varsity letter for completing 200 hours of community service in one school
year. Hours started accruing for the Varsity letter June 1st until the deadline. For

Club News
FCA – Fellowship of Christian Athletes – will be holding bible study on
Tuesdays during lunch in Ms. Nasr’s room (room 153). Feel free to join us if you
are interested.
Do you enjoy Science? Do you like competition, working with drones, being
outside and going on field trips? Then the Science Club is for you! Please stop by
our table at lunchtime today to learn about club membership. Meetings are on
Wednesdays at lunch in room 801 (Ms. Anderson’s room). Hope to see you there
for a great year!

Sports News
Congratulations to the Boys Golf Team on their first two wins of the season.
The Falcons defeated Seton Catholic and Combs. Peyton Richardson led all scorers
with an impressive 1 under par, followed by Jacob Tarkany who shot even par,
and Jack Homer and Alex Herkamp with 1 over.

For those interested in playing Girls Basketball, there will be a meeting on
Monday, August 20th at 3:00 PM in the Lecture Hall.

Cross Country’s intra-squad 5K is tomorrow, August 18th

, at 6:30
AM. Friends, family, alumni, teachers and community members are also
encouraged to participate in this fun event. The entry fee is $20, which goes to
the CSHS cross-country team. Come on out and enjoy a morning run or walk and
support Cross Country. The distance is 5K (3.1 miles) and the course starts and
ends at the Stadium. Any questions can be directed to Mary Pat Swinford in the
1200 bldg.
