Upcoming College Visits: The following colleges will be on campus in the

CSHS Open House is coming up on Monday, August 20th. If your parents are
planning to attend, please remember to give them a copy of your schedule as
they will be following your schedule and visiting each of your classes for about 10

Picture Day is Thursday, August 30th. Orders can be placed online by
visiting and using the CSHS picture day ID SR018009Q1. There
are also order forms available in the front office.

Cactus Shadows is looking for a student to fill the position of our school
mascot, Floyd the Falcon!! Anyone interested please see Mrs. Johnson in the
athletics office to pick up a flier and sign up for tryouts. Here’s your chance to
show us your Falcon PRIDE!!

Cactus Shadows High School is collecting non-perishable items for Foothills
Food Bank. Items specifically requested are diapers, peanut butter, sugar, canned
meat, canned pasta, jelly, juice, cream soups, pasta, pasta sauce and toiletries. A
bin is set up in the front office and the final collection date will be this Friday,

August 17th in front of the football stadium before our first Varsity game
(5:30pm-7pm). If students are interested in volunteering for community service
hours for this event, please contact [email protected]

Join the Superintendent’s Student Cadre! Superintendent, Dr. Debbi
Burdick, is inviting students from Cactus Shadows High School to meet with her
once a month to discuss critical issues at the high school, the district and in the
community. The meetings will be in dialogue format for active discussion. Topics
will be brought forward by students or Dr. Burdick. For more information visit

575-2016. The first meeting is September 12th at 2:05pm in the 100 Building staff
Are you participating in the Superintendent’s Challenge? Earn 50 hours or
more per year in Community Service (200 hours total 4 years) by your senior year
and receive a Superintendent’s Challenge honor cord and certificate. Falcons can
earn a Varsity letter for completing 200 hours of community service in one school
year. Hours started accruing for the Varsity letter June 1st until the deadline. For

Club News
FCA – Fellowship of Christian Athletes – will be holding bible study on
Tuesdays during lunch in Ms. Nasr’s room (room 153). Feel free to join us if you
are interested.

Sports News
For those interested in playing Girls Basketball, there will be a meeting on
Monday, August 20th at 3:00 PM in the Lecture Hall.

Cross Country’s intra-squad 5K is this Saturday, August 18th

, at 6:30 AM.
The team gets a chance to run fast on our newly designed home course. Friends,
family, alumni, teachers and community members are also encouraged to
participate in this fun event. The entry fee is $20, which goes to the CSHS cross-

country team. Come on out and enjoy a morning run or walk and support Cross
Country. The distance is 5K (3.1 miles) and the course starts and ends at the
Stadium. Any questions can be directed to Mary Pat Swinford in the 1200 bldg.

Falcons, this Friday is a BLUE OUT for the pep rally and game. Everybody
WEAR BLUE on Friday!
